There is a risk with almost everything in this world but the risk of not vaccinating everyone that can be vaccinated would be devistating.
I don't think it is black and white myself.
I work a lot with dogs and horses, who don't have many mandatory
vaccinations over here. I have had some cases of bad secondary
effects that can be totally atributed to vaccines. I think it is
the responsibility of the owner to balance the risks of
vaccinating and facing possible side effects or non vaccinating
and facing a possible outbreak in the barn or kennel.
For many vaccines I take the first, for many others I take the
second. I am happy I can make this decission myself for the
most part instead of having it imposed of me. When a horse of
mine gets a bad side effect from a vaccine and is unable to eat
normally for three days I want to know it is my responsibility
and it is happening for a good reason, not because some
bourocrat was bought by Big Vet Pharma and made the vaccine
mandatory.
Fun fact, I got vaccinated against a eradicated disease and
ended up catching it up and being put in quarantine for it.
It looks like a big vaccine batch got deffective from the lab
and a good bunch of people got the damn thing. The bastards
didn't gave me my money back.
