I am doing what I always do, which is working and seling wares and playing with the horses. I also got some stuff at home repaired.
Then I found a portable air conditioning unit on offer. I am not a fan of these things, but it was too cheap to pass by. The dogs love it.

mine works great. it's the window hookup that sucks
Is yours one of those penguin styled units, with a single pipe that goes out window?
Mine happens to be one of those. As I said, I am not a fan of the design. It inefficient. HOwever for the three days per year I am gonna use it I can't j purchasing anything more expensive :-)

We have several of those things at work to cool some equipment closets. They work adequately, but don't seem to last more than a few years... I assume that's because of the larger workload than average. These closets are all internal, though, and our meager K-12 budget precludes the only alternative, which would be to install RTUs.

maybe you have an issue with yours. mine works great.
another thing is i have to drain it, but not frequently.
Models with a single pipe typically suck ait from the room you are trying to cool down in order to feed it to the condenser. Then that air goes out through the exhaust pipe.
To be honest, if I were to use one of these things to cool down equipment, I of using split units at the very very least.
Penguins are not designed to work continuously.
