I built a new desktop PC recently and have been installing and setting up al my software. I normally use VNC to remote desktop to my BBS machine and my Linux machine (running Linux Mint Cinnamon 18.1) - and my BBS is running in Windows 7 32-bit in a VirtualBox machine on my Linux machine. I installed TightVNC on my new desktop, and I can VNC to my Windows BBS VM, but when I t to VNC to my Linux machine, it doesn't connect, but it doesn't report any errors either. After I click the Connect button, the TightVNC server input window disappears and then nothing happens at all. I'm not sure what's goin on, since it doesn't report an error. I can VNC to my BBS Windows VM just f though.. Has anyone seen that happen with VNC before?

Never had that problem and I've used Tight and RealVNC a lot. You could try the free version of TeamViewer which has linux and windows builds. You can't blank the host screen with the free version, but it works great in a pinch.
I'm currently using it on windows, linux, and mac machines at home and work.
I've used TeamViewer, and I suppose that could work. I know there are other options out there too.. It's possible to set up the Microsoft Remote Desktop Protocol to work in Linux too. I was just curious about the VNC thing since I hadn't changed anything on my server at all..

i used teamviewer for a few years. the problem is their support sucks. it's almost non existent. i wont pay for it if that's what they have to show me.
they did something where i had to validate via email for some reason. the emails arent coming to me. no matter what i do.
i tried to get ahold of them in several ways. even sales. they ignore me.
