Yes, and you could search with Veronica, then jump from gopher to gopher in ways not too dissimilar to the web, but menu based, rather than hyperlinked. I remember experiencing hyperlinks on the web for the first time (using Lynx), after much experience with Veronica and Gopher and thinking "This is really cool". :)
