• REPOST: Mailing Lists

    Hey DM,

I had two subs setup to receive from mailing lists. In fact, when I first set them up, I had them setup as a mailing list (where SBBS was the list server).

When I went to reply to a message, the "To" name was obviously not a local users, but SBBS said "user unknown" (or not found, dont recall the exact error).

Realising that I should have set them up as list gate (since technically I'm not the server) - I reconfigured to use listgate (as per the wiki).

Still, as a local user (actually the sysop), I couldnt post a reply to the message, since it came back with user unknown.

I went into scfg, and enabled "anonymous" posts - to which I could then reply to a message - but it asks if I want to be anonymous (which I dont).

Have I missed something? IE: Why was it thinking that I should be replying to a local user, and thus returning user unknown? I want to turn off allow anonymous, so that messages always go out with the users real name.

Synchronet doesn't know that message area is networked unless you tell it, so set Network Options->Internet (UUCP/NNTP) to "Yes" for that/those subs and Synchronet then won't expect a "to user" to be a valid user name.
