• Problem with Areafix?

From Alterego@VERT/ALTERANT to Digital Man on Friday, January 17, 2020 16:18:29
    Hey DM,

I noticed something strange today on my areas.bbs (on my Windows SBBS).

I received an unlink request from a downstream node (1/151) - on the 12th Jan. While the log shows the unlinking that happened (the node unlinked many ECHO areas) the unlinked also removed my upstream, which was the first address on the first line. (It removed the upstream from 1 echo only - even though that is an uplink for multiple echos.)

I have kept the areas.1.bbs and the areas.bbs files so that you can see the difference of this unlink request.

    The windows system is:
    Revision C Oct 14 2019 05:03 SMBLIB 2.61 MSC 1922

Something that you are aware of, or can work with?

The version of SBBSecho is what would matter here.

Something that you are aware of, or can work with?

Not aware of this issue. You can send me the areas.bbs versions (before/after the areafix) along with the relevant log messages and let me know the SBBSecho version and revision. That'd likely give me all the info needed to find and fix the issue.

So, I've logged onto vert and sent you a message with an attachment. (Send Email-> Send file attachment.)

It provides the log info and the areas.bbs files in question.

    SBBS shows itself as:
SBBSecho v3.10-Win32 (rev 3.143) - Synchronet FidoNet EchoMail Tosser

Curious to know what you find...

Thanks, should be fixed now. Looks like that was broken back in 2014!

Is now a good time to mention regression testing? :)
