I have spent a week trying to get Dormouse stable on Linux and beating myself against the wall, because as I get one thing working, something else breaks. I thought that my last divorce was going to kill me.

What are you having trouble with?

Folks here can probably help, if you provide some details.

Just trying to get it stable while attempting migration of data from the windows install. I broke it somehow yesterday and have to start from scratch. Along with broke the Timeshift restore. Just trying to get back to remembering how to do things in Linux after not using it for some time.

Chris Wilson's guide has been pretty straightforward in getting things
running. https://www.netexconsult.com/blog/linux-unix/installing-synchronet-bb s-with-dosemu-support-on-debian-9-5-stretch/. I need to remember to do the Linux Webv4 install not migrate over the Windows Webv4 stuff from the backup of the folder before I started this project.

This may help a bit for the migration part. http://wiki.synchro.net/faq:misc#migration

    Hope this helps

I guess I misread what he was asking for since I've not heard of sbbs be unstable on Linux. *shrug*

It is unstable if you try to do things that can break things. I do believe that it is now stable and running. Everyone is welcome to check it out. The number pointers are now showing on the web when you go to the forums on the website side of things. Now I just need to get the Matrix login back in, work on the DDMSGReader stuff (kind of confused when it comes to editing the text.dat for it to run and work out of there. I had issues with it when I tried to run it in Windows.

Yeah, I divorced it because she liked spending money too much and thought that the world revolved around her.

I have found it to be a trial by the seat of my pants in getting it up and running on Linux. The deeper down the rabbit hole that you go, the more that you find out how much more that you learn in doing things.

I grew up around this stuff and come from a house that ran programs on paper tape and punch cards in the beginning. I was still running programs on paper tape in the 80's while in the Navy.

I used to have a box of cards in my office. They had quit using them by
the time I started there, but they were still around. In the mid-90's I
worked for a company that had an AS/400 that still used "drum memory."
When they had to get a new unit, they had to buy it from a company in
Brazil. Apparently, they were the only other ones still using it.
