I finally got everything set up. Now I am seeing that the FSXNet packets inbound are being turned to .bad because they cannot be determined what was used to archive them. I can open them up in plain text in Gedit and do a Hex dump, just cannot get them to port into the proper forums.
This is what I get if I try and rename the .bad packet for Saturday with an arbitrary number at the end.

What are the first few bytes of that file? You can dump it with hexdump (a.k.a. hd) and just post the first few lines of output (not the whole thing). Or you can just run 'file /sbbs/data/fido/inbound/secure/11bf5460.SA9', that should tell you what type of file it is. I'm guessing you don't have that particular archive file type (whatever it is) configured in your sbbsecho.ini/echocfg.

It comes up as data. I can go through the dump with no problems.

Didn't ask for that, not helpful.

Everything is working now. Thank you Rob for helping.
I think the issue is that your 'areas.bbs' file is wrong. See
right there above where it says "FSX_CRY: (Unknown) Skipped'...
For reference, my FSX net portion of 'areas.bbs' looks like this:
FSX_GEN FSX_GEN 21:2/100
FSX_MYS FSX_MYS 21:2/100
FSX_MAG FSX_MAG 21:2/100
FSX_BBS FSX_BBS 21:2/100
FSX_CRY FSX_CRY 21:2/100
FSX_BOT FSX_BOT 21:2/100
FSX_DAT FSX_DAT 21:2/100
FSX_ENG FSX_ENG 21:2/100
FSX_HAM FSX_HAM 21:2/100
It has to match what you've configured for each echo, including
the "prefix".

this says you don't have the area defined in your configuration...
this says that pkt is malformed... sbbsecho is doing the right thing by renaming it bad and abandoning it... the question is "why is that pkt grunged?"...

It was because the compression setting was wrong for fsxnet.
