  • Libre Base to Access 2003 DB Connection?

    I've recently been messing with Access 2003, and for better or worse I've accidentally created a DB I rely on in my life in it. I've been trying to find if there's ANY way to connect to the DB with Libre Base; any attempts have failed.

    Well from what I've quickly been reading, It depends.

    If you are on a Windows machine (I for full disclosure am not), then
    it seems you can setup an OBDC connection for it.

    On other machines, then it seems like you might be able to use the
    JDBC driver UCanAccess, althought personally I am not familar with it.

    Another option might be to see if you can export all the Access tables to
    CSV and see if you can then import them into a new Database. Of course
    that is a lot of work.

    Still another option that may or may not work is to convert the Access DB
    into something like an SQLite DB. Again if you are on a Windows machine,
    you can find and install an SQLite DB ODBC driver and then in Access
    export to the Database to the SQLite DB ODBC source.

    I worked with Access 2003 and "upgraded" to Access 2007 and
    that was a bit of a pain as many macros/forms had to be
    reprogrammed!

    Meanwhile, I too would like to have the .accdb and its many
    existing forms be useable from Libre Base or similar on a *nix
    system instead of MSOffice/Windows.

    Any progress so far with your dilema?
